Tom’s of Maine

Yes, there really is a Tom, a very successful, serial entrepreneur who built his company on high-quality, natural, personal-care products.  Tom’s of Maine still retains its identity and is now a flourishing division of the Colgate-Palmolive Company, with its major manufacturing facility in Sanford. Tom still resides in Maine and has formed another start-up company only a few miles from the facilities in Sanford and Kennebunk.

Pratt & Whitney

Pratt & Whitney is one of the world-leaders in aircraft engine design and manufacturing for commercial aviation and the Department of Defense.  A division of United Aircraft, Pratt is one of Maine’s leading employers, with over 1200 workers employed at its North Berwick plant where it repairs and remanufactures critical engine components for many of the most advanced jet engines in the world. Pratt has recently announced plans to hire additional employees over the next several years,   eventually restoring employment to pre-2008 levels.

GVS North America

Evonik Cyro manufactures and markets acrylic sheet products in its Sanford manufacturing plant. Its acrylic sheet products are used by designers, fabricators, architects, engineers and end-users. The company serves various markets/applications, including point-of-purchase displays, store fixtures, conservation glazing, greenhouses, security, aerospace/aviation, aquarium, architectural, automotive, furniture/accessories, skylight, hockey rink, lighting, museum, noise barrier, optoelectronic, picture framing, sign, tanning bed and trade show/exhibits. Evonik Cyro LLC was formerly known as Cyro Industries.

Hussey Seating

Flemish Master Weavers

Flemish Master Weavers (FMW) manufactures  finished textile  products  for North American markets. Its product line features oriental-style rugs, mats and accessories.  The company has invested heavily in automated manufacturing technology allowing it to compete both in quality and  price  across a broad product line with many low-labor-cost countries.  These investments have borne the fruit of increased employment and a strong commitment to the Sanford Region.  Flemish Master Weavers is part of NATCO, a Rhode Island-based Company. FMW has maintained successful operations in Sanford  for over 20 years.

The Baker Company

The Baker Company is the world leader, and  leading innovator in air containment technologies. For over 60 years the company has been an innovator and has pioneered the design and manufacture of biological safety cabinets, clean benches and fume hoods for a wide variety of industries including biotech, pharmacy, governmental, clinical and medical education research.
