Rural Energy for America Program Offers Funds for Energy Efficiency Improvements

December 21, 2015

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development announced last week that it is accepting applications for funds through its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).  The program provides assistance with energy efficiency improvements for agricultural businesses and for small businesses in "rural areas" - defined, for this program, as communities with fewer than 50,000 residents.

REAP funds can be used for renewable energy systems or energy efficiency improvements. USDA Rural Development has approximately $200 million available through the REAP guaranteed loan program for fiscal year 2016.
