Author and Columnist Alan Caron to Talk About "Maine's Next Economy"

Author and columnist Alan CaronSANFORD - Author and columnist Alan Caron will discuss Maine's economy during a special presentation at the Sanford-Springvale Rotary Club's evening social at the Sanford Town Club on Thursday, March 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and enjoy refreshments and Caron's presentation. 

Caron is a lifelong Mainer, who grew up in Waterville in a family of mill workers and farmers. He has been a small business owner and social entrepreneur for most of his adult life, and has worked on issues ranging from business development to poverty to neighborhood renewal, affordable housing, transportation, telecommunications and the environment. He writes a weekly column for the Maine Sunday telegram and the weekend editions of newspapers published in Central Maine. He has written two books, "Reinventing Maine Government," published in 2010, and, most recently, "Maine's Next Economy," published in 2015.

He is the founder of Envision Maine, which works to promote an economy driven by Maine's innovators, entrepreneurs and doers. He holds a Master's degree in public policy and management from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he was the first student admitted to a one-year Master's program without prior undergraduate credits.

He lives in Freeport with his wife and son and enjoys history, golf, gardening, sailing and flying.
