Sanford Businesses Have Attractive Options for Air Transportation

Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport (Center of Commercial Development)

Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport (SFM) is a general aviation airport owned by the City of Sanford, serving York County southeast New Hampshire, and the south coast region of Maine. It is located on 1,115 acres in southwestern Maine, midway between the coast and the Maine/New Hampshire border, only eight miles from the Maine Turnpike, and in the geographical center of New England. The airport is the hub of the South Sanford industrial district that is currently undergoing significant commercial and retail development. In 2019 it will become the home of the largest solar array on an airport in the United States with the construction of the Sanford Airport Solar Project.

SFM is designed to accomodate the largest of corporate jets. It features crossing runways of 6,389 and 5,000 feet respectively, ILS, VOR and GPS instrument approaches, a full service Fixed Based Operator, and can accommodate expected growth in corporate aviation, aircraft maintenance, freight and ancillary aviation services. The airport is considered the preferred site for Air Force One presidential visits to nearby Kennebunkport on the beautiful Maine Coast. SFM is home to two flight schools, offers scenic airplane tours of Maine’s iconic seacoast, and is home to one of LifeFlight of Maine’s three bases. It is also the venue for a number of popular events each year.
