Acadia National Park Crowned "America's Favorite Place"

July 29, 2014

Acadia National Park, seen above, has been voted “America’s Favorite Place”, by viewers of ABC’s Good Morning America. After a month-long campaign, Acadia was among five finalists, going up against Lake Tahoe, the Chicago Lakefront, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Glacier National Park in Montana. With excitement high, Good Morning America made the announcement live from Jordon Pond in Acadia during the morning program.

Acadia is the oldest national park east of the Mississippi and contains nearly 47,000 acres with more than 120 miles of hiking trails.  It is easy to see why the park won the title: the park showcases Maine's incredibly beautiful rocky coastline and sandy beaches, and boasts mountains, forests, lakes, waterfalls, and the Atlantic Coast's only fjord.
